Mobile Connect Hub Case Study

In 2016, GSMA along with Aircel, Airtel, Idea, Tata Docomo, Telenor and Vodafone India deployed the first Mobile Connect Hub in India. The hub connected the 6 Indian operators to a single integration point for Service Providers that provides Mobile Connect identity service to their collective footprint. The platform was powered by ApigatePro technology and used SMS, USSD, and Header Enrichment to provide a seamless login mechanism for their collective 900 Million subscribers.

The service was launched in under three months and was fully managed by Apigate including platform maintenance and upgrades. The solution delivers the same ease of use for mobile users, who can securely access a range of websites, apps and services by using their unique mobile numbers for identification. At the same time, for the MNOs adopting the solution, the increased user engagement driven through easier navigation for customers and fraud prevention facilities offered greatly enhances the experience of digital services provided.

The service is being used commercially by a wide range of digital service providers in areas, such as commerce, finance and banking, government service access, health services, and media and entertainment as well the MNO selfcare applications.
